The Owatonna boys soccer team returned to their home field at the Lincoln Soccer Complex a day later than they planned, as their matchup against the Lakeville South scheduled for Monday night was postponed to Tuesday night due to excessive heat.

The Huskies were coming off of a 2-1 loss to the Lakeville North Panthers, as they looked to bounce back and win their first game of the season. It was another low-scoring game, but Owatonna was once again on the losing side, falling 1-0 to the Cougars.

After Carson Van Gelder was the goalkeeper for the Huskies in their season opener Saturday, Landon Sturges got the start for their game against Lakeville South.

The Cougars scored to take a 1-0 lead after 11 minutes were played in the first half, with Axel Andriano-Cortes scoring. But that turned out to be the only goal for Lakeville South in the game, as Landon Sturges did not give up a goal for the remainder of the matchup.

With the score being 1-0 at the half, the Huskies were also unable to score in the second half, as they lost 1-0. Sturges ended up having 8 saves on the Cougars 9 shots.

The Huskies only had 2 recorded shots on the night, but they had many balls aimed at the goal that missed just outside of the goal.

The Huskies will travel to Mankato on Thursday to take on the Mankato West Scarlets.
