    'Music can be forever': Volk keeps vocal talents intact through teaching, performing

    It was Owensboro native Rebecca Volk’s appearance playing the role of piano student Amaryllis in a local production of “The Music Man” at age 7 that solidified her future endeavors.

    “... There’s a line where I (said), ‘Never! I’ll end up an old maid like you’ — and the audience (erupted) in laughter,” Volk, 30, said. “I remember hearing that laughter, and I was just hooked.
