    Animal welfare advocates question direction Fiscal Court looking with shelter

    Daviess Fiscal Court has held meetings with the leaders of area animal welfare nonprofits and rescues to discuss the potential of creating a nonprofit group to assume responsibility for the operation of Daviess County Animal Care and Control.

    While Daviess County has a number of nonprofits working to care for animals, there is real concern among many of the stakeholders as to whether the plan being discussed by Fiscal Court — which is largely modeled on how Warren County’s animal shelter is operated by a nonprofit — is realistic for Daviess County in a number of areas.
