Cambridge Public Schools Welcome David Murphy as Interim Superintendent Amid Leadership Changes
Cambridge Public Schools is ushering in a new era of leadership with the recent appointment of David Murphy as interim superintendent—a development reported by The Harvard Crimson. Murphy, who has a history with both Boston and Medford Public Schools before joining CPS in January 2023, assumed the role yesterday. This change follows the School Committee's decision to sever ties with the prior superintendent, Victoria L. Greer, less than a month ago. This decision was made in response to dissent among parents, particularly regarding hiring practices at Graham & Parks Elementary School and other institutions.
Students excel on topic of ‘Americanism’
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 91 recently announced the winners of the Americanism essay contest winners. This year’s essay was titled “What does freedom mean to me”. All the participants this year were from South Dorchester grades K through eight. The winners were awarded cash prizes at a presentation dinner sponsored by the Unit 91 Auxiliary in Cambridge. Diaz resigns from Dorchester Board of Education
CAMBRIDGE — Mike Diaz, president of the Board of Education of Dorchester County, has resigned his position, leaving three members on the five-member board. According to a Monday morning press release from Dorchester County Public Schools, Diaz cited health and family concerns as the reason behind his resignation, which was effective June 28.
