It's been a rollercoaster four seasons for Lane Kiffin as the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels have experienced two seasons with 10 or more wins but also endured two seasons with eight or fewer wins.

The Rebels have a 5-5 record against ranked opponents in the two seasons where they won 10 or more games. Still, there is a lot of optimism in Oxford and from the national media, as the Rebels have been ranked by many as a top-10 team in the country entering the season .

SEC Network's Paul Finebaum isn't one of those people. He told Berry Tramel of the Tulsa World that he doesn't believe the Rebels are a legitimate contender because of Kiffin's "underwhelming at times" coaching.

"I would say no," Finebaum said. "Everyone in the media, Berry, we're on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin. They think he's hilarious. I don't think he's that funny. I don't think his tweets are that interesting, and his coaching has been underwhelming at times. I'll believe it when I see it."

Kiffin has had a successful college coaching career thus far. He has accumulated a record of 96-49 across his coaching stints at Tennessee, USC, Florida Atlantic and now Ole Miss. His most successful period has been the four years he spent at Oxford, where he's achieved a 69.4% winning percentage.

However, there is still more to achieve. Kiffin has never won a Power Five conference championship or played in the conference championship game. Despite the optimism surrounding Ole Miss this season, he will have to prove to Finebaum and others that he can deliver.
