Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin came out on the wrong side of a two recruiting battles over the weekend. The Rebels missed out on a pair of wide receivers as Caleb Cunningham and Phillip Wright III both announced their college decisions.

Cunningham is a five-star wideout from Ackerman, Miss. and is the No. 2 receiver in the country and ranks 14th in the 2025 cycle, according to On3's Industry Rankings . At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Cunningham has incredible playmaking ability which is what makes him the top prospect in the state. It was on Saturday when Cunningham made his commitment to Alabama over Mississippi State, Auburn, Florida and others along with Ole Miss, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.

Wright is a three-star prospect from Destrehan, La and announced his commitment to the University of Michigan. The Wolverines beat out Georgia, Baylor, Ole Miss and plenty of others for the speedy wideout. Wright has track speed and recently ran 10.46 in the 100 meters.

One great thing about the Rebels under Kiffin is that fans should never fret over losing a wide receiver on the recruiting trails. Ole Miss typically builds the position group through the transfer portal, but has plenty of great history finding and developing pass catchers into stars. While this weekend didn't yield any major products the sting of these losses shouldn't stick around for too long.
