Lane Kiffin is not a fan of one major change coming to the SEC in 2024

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is typically ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation and creativity. However, the SEC is implementing one change in the 2024 season that could compromise a major advantage for Kiffin's Rebels.

The SEC is allowing the use of iPads on the sidelines in the upcoming season. Much like the NFL, these iPads will be used to break down game film and pull video from the endzones and sidelines during the game to better understand what an opposing team might be running from a schematic perspective.

Kiffin's offenses are lightning fast. Ole Miss has been at the forefront in pace of play ever since Kiffin took over. With an experienced quarterback like Jaxson Dart in a familiar system the Rebels can strike so quickly that opposing defenses oftentimes don't have the time or resources to find an answer.

Kiffin was asked about this change on Monday at SEC Media Days in Dallas, Texas. "I'd rather another team not have it," Kiffin said of the iPads. "Just because we go so fast and I think they don't see a lot of it. And so now it allows them to see what really happened."

This change might take away the edge that teams like Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Oklahoma have by running an up-tempo offense. With that being said, the rule is the same for all 16 SEC teams, so it's up to Kiffin and his staff to adjust.

The Rebels will depend on Kiffin to navigate around this change and turn a perceived disadvantage into a strength. If Ole Miss can make the proper adjustments then there isn't anything that should get in the way of an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
