Lane Kiffin Humiliates Paul Finebaum In Epic Roast At SEC Media Days

It’s no secret that Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and college football analyst Paul Finebaum don’t like each other.

So when the two spoke with one another on the SEC Network at SEC Media Days about the role Finebaum allegedly played in Kiffin getting fired as head coach at USC, there was zero surprise the conversation turned confrontational.

“It’s a better story if I got you fired,” Finebaum stated.

“You really did,” Kiffin replied. “Because it is a true story that the athletic director and the president were on that trip. We were playing that night and you were on College GameDay and you had to make your big splash. They were watching it, because I know the other person in the room that was watching it with them. And you said, what a joke I was, I’m the Miley Cyrus of college football coaching and I should be fired. They looked at each other and later that night, I was fired.

“But hey, look what happened — I would never have gotten to work for coach Saban, all of these other things wouldn’t have happened. So I appreciate you for helping getting me fired.”

Finebaum has been notoriously critical of Kiffin throughout his coaching career, often referring to him as “the Miley Cyrus of college football.”

But like Cyrus, who’s has three No. 1 platinum-selling albums, two No. 1 hit songs and eight others crack into the top 10, Kiffin’s coaching career has had a resurgence. The 49-year-old is 34-15 in four seasons at Ole Miss with two bowl wins.

Sporting one of the more loaded rosters in the NCAA, the Rebels are projected to qualify for the 12-team College Football Playoff.

“So you were wrong [about Miley Cyrus’ career],” Kiffin added. “I mean, you put me down with that. Really, I don’t know what you’re good at. You predicted coach Saban was done, that didn’t happen. You basically said Miley Cyrus stinks, and she’s still going.”
