Reardon sentenced to 2 years in prison for violating probation

A Lafayette County Circuit Court judge sentenced a man serving probation for stalking the mayor of Oxford to two years in prison Thursday for violating his probation.

According to court records, Matthew Reardon pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated stalking and was sentenced to five years in prison in September 2022. However, four years were suspended and he served about one year in jail on a charge of aggravated stalking.

He was sentenced to serve the remaining four years on probation. He was also banned from Lafayette County for five years.

Reardon reportedly violated his probation recently by being arrested for felony DUI in Galveston, Texas.

On Thursday, the suspended portion of his sentence was ordered to be revoked. He was sentenced to two years in prison followed by the remaining two years on supervised probation after his release from jail.

Reardon was arrested on June 28, 2022, by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and charged with aggravated stalking after walking into the City Hall with a video camera and walking toward Mayor Robyn Tannehill’s office, knowing he had a restraining order from going within 500 feet of the Mayor and her husband, Rhea Tannehill.
