The Ole Miss Rebels are picking up where they as college football's dead period comes to an end later in the week. Now that recruiting is opening back up, it appears that Ole Miss is on the verge of securing a major commitment from one of the nation's top defensive backs.

Ladarian Clardy , a four-star safety out of Pensacola, Fla., is the nation's No. 17 safety prospect and the 28th-ranked player in The Sunshine State, per On3's Industry Rankings. The Rebels have been in hot pursuit of Clardy's talents for a while now, but with his college decision approaching on Aug. 3 , it appears as if Ole Miss is head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

In fact, On3's Chad Simmons made a prediction on Tuesday in which Clardy will pledge to Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. Co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Bryan Brown has played a major role in his recruitment and deserves plenty of credit is this prediction comes true.

Ole Miss could use the recruiting boost as well. After all, the Rebels have slipped outside of the top 25 in On3's 2025 team rankings and currently sit at No. 28 in the country and No. 12 in the SEC.

If Ole Miss picks up a commitment from Clardy he would be the fifth four-star prospect in the Rebels' 2025 class with plenty more top targets still within reach.
