The recruiting trail for the 2024 season is still not over. The firing of Utah State head coach Blake Anderson opened the door for several key playmakers to enter the portal. About 24 hours after Micah Davis submitted his name, Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin took pole position in the race.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder was an Honorable Mention All-Mountain West, totaling 36 receptions, 628 yards, and six touchdowns in 2023. He also added 250 punt return yards on 26 attempts.

Davis started his career in the Air Force, where he stayed for two years before moving to Utah State. The son of former Clemson and NFL football player Dexter Davis, Micah has been crystal-balled to Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss by 247Sports .

An Atlanta native, Davis is a senior who will make an impact wherever he lands. The Georgia Bulldogs don't seem to be involved, surprisingly. While the incoming arrival of Colbie Young is an impact transfer addition, the legal issues of Rara Thomas might've opened the door for Davis.

Barring a late entry into the chase for Davis, Kiffin continues to build out an impressive array of offensive playmakers for QB Jaxson Dart. Tre Harris is already a projected top-100 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Antwane Wells was a top-60 guy one year ago. Wells was added from South Carolina this offseason.

Could Davis fit into the slot and compete with Jordan Watkins? It's a crowded room on the Ole Miss receiver depth chart. Fellow transfers Deion Smith, Devin Price, Zamari Bruce, and Jordan Smart are also upperclassmen. None have the resume of Davis.

Will Davis land at Ole Miss? We'll continue to monitor the latest news around the rumors and movements.
