Jaxson Dart's Heisman Trophy odds are already skrocketing

Ole Mis Rebels fans aren't the only ones bullish about quarterback Jaxson Dart.

As one of the biggest names in college football, Dart comes into the 2024 season with hype and expectations. Sportsbooks are starting to buy into that hype as well.

BetMGM released their upcoming Heisman Trophy odds ahead of the college football season on July 31. Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel is the new odds-on favorite, with Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck right behind him.

However, Dart has been the biggest riser in Heisman odds. Originally +2000 to win the award, the Ole Miss quarterback now has the fifth-best odds at +1200, ahead of fellow quarterbacks Will Howard and Nico Iamaleava.

Dart has strong numbers in Lane Kiffin's offense in 2023. He finished the year with 3,364 passing yards with 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions, adding another eight touchdowns on the ground.

Now, Dart is going to be surrounded with top-tier talent that should help him take another step forward as a passer. Tre Harris returns as the Rebels' No. 1 receiver, and will be running routes with incoming transfer Juice Wells, who was a first-team All-SEC selection with South Carolina back in 2022.

Caden Prieskorn is a strong tight end, Ulysses Bentley IV is an exciting receiver, and the offensive line is loaded up with incoming transfers. The Rebels defense should be able to help get Dart the ball back quickly thanks to transfers up front like Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen.

With so much new talent on both sides of the ball, Ole Miss should be in a great spot to make a College Football Playoff run. That should consistently put the Rebels on the national stage, allowing Dart to assert himself as a legitimate Heisman candidate.
