    CECIL COUNTY — Rising Sun and Port Deposit Chambers of Commerce will hold a joint meeting and networking event July 25 at Bog Turtle Brewery from 4-6 p.m.

    OXFORD, Pa. — Oxford Feed & Lumber and The Children’s Room at Oxford Library are coming together to present “Story Times at Oxford Feed and Lumber.”

    The program begins July 11 at 10:30 a.m. and runs every Thursday through Aug. 1. Children will hear a great book about animals, sing an animal song and meet some furry or feathered friends as well.

    Oxford Feed & Lumber is located at 112 Railroad Ave. The Children’s Room at Oxford Library is located at 48 South 2nd St.

    CECIL COUNTY — Entrepreneurs who would like to see their product on the shelves of Walmart stores have until July 15 to submit the application for Walmart’s Open Call Pitch Event.

    Open Call is part of a $350 billion commitment by Walmart to increase the number of American-made products on its shelves or online through Walmart or Sam’s Club stores. Since its inception in 2014, there have been more than 1,000 pitches made from more than 700 businesses in all 50 states.

    NORTH EAST — It’s time for Second Friday celebration in North East hosted by the North East Chamber of Commerce. Entertainment on The Green will include Olivia Reynolds, with Eric Pierce at Snatcher’s Creekside. The future North East home of Elk River Brewing will play host to October Oak Acoustic.

    Enjoy food trucks, vendors and Turkey Point Wine Tasting all from 5 until 7 p.m.

    PERRYVILLE — Hollywood Casino led the way in June recording the highest increase in profits from among Maryland’s six casinos.

    According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, the casino on Chesapeake Overlook Parkway in Perryville saw its revenue increase 8.2% last month compared to June 2023. The only other gaming center to make gains was Live! Casino & Hotel at 4.2%.
