Here's a roundup of incidents and announcements from Ventura County agencies:

    Pedestrian critically injured

A pedestrian was critically injured Saturday night in Oxnard after apparently being struck by a large sedan along a heavily traveled commercial route by The Rose shopping area.

Police said they responded to the crash at 9 p.m. at Rose Avenue and Lockwood Street, which lies south of the Best Buy store.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was struck by a 2014 Toyota Camry, according to the Oxnard Police Department. No other identifying information for the pedestrian was released.

He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition, police said.

On Monday, the pedestrian was recovering in the hospital in stable condition, said Cmdr. Luis Mc Arthur.

The driver of the Camry, identified as a 29-year-old Oxnard resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Based on the initial investigation, police found that the pedestrian was walking west across Rose Avenue at Lockwood Street as the Camry was traveling south on Rose Avenue with a green light.  The Camry struck the pedestrian as he was crossing Rose Avenue, officials said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police department at 805-385-7600.

2 men injured in attack in Meiners Oaks home

Two men were injured in a physical confrontation in late June at a home in Meiners Oaks, but their assailants have been caught, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office reported.

The two male assailants, ages 18 and 20, allegedly went to the home of 40-year-old man in the 800 block of El Roblar Drive to confront and assault him on the evening of June 26.

Sheriff's officials said the 18-year-old man threatened to kill the 40-year-old occupant of the home outside Ojai and swung a machete at him. During the altercation, his 20-year-old companion battered a 30-year-old man who tried to help the first victim, officials said.

Both assailants were reportedly subdued and arrested by law enforcement. They were treated for minor injuries at the scene as were the victims, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to Community Memorial Hospital- Ojai before being booked into the main county jail in Ventura, where he remained Sunday in lieu of $40,000 bond.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and trespassing by threat, both felonies, according to jail records.

The 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of battery and conspiracy to commit a crime. He has been released from jail, according to jail records.
