PADEN CITY, W.Va. (WTRF) — Paden City High School students, parents and staff have temporarily won a battle to keep the 74-year-old school open after it was shut down by Superintendent Cassie Porter in June due to health concerns.

A court order has just been handed down, and Paden City High School has been reopened.

The ruling came from Circuit Judge Richard Wilson in Wetzel County and also states that all teachers, staff and faculty be reinstated.

The court ruled that if the illegal closure is permitted to continue, the rights of the students to be educated at their local high school will be irreparably harmed.

Parents, teachers, coaches, students, and staff through counsel, Teresa Toriseva and Joshua Miller filed the petition today.

Judge Wilson granted the petition for Emergency Injunctive Relief due to the new school year’s activities starting in a matter of days.
