(PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo.) — An open line 911 call in Archuleta County led deputies to the discovery of a woman’s body in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), deputies with the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) responded to a 911 call in which the line was left open around 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday. The call originated form the 1000 block of County Road 700, about eight miles west of Pagosa Springs.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found the body of a 39-year-old woman. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound in an apparent homicide, the CBI said.

The scene was immediately secured, though no suspect has been caught. ACSO requested the help of the CBI, which will be the lead investigative agency on this case. No suspect information was available as of Tuesday afternoon.

The coroner will determine the woman’s official cause and manner of death.
