JCHS teacher appointed to state committee
Johnson Central High School Social Studies Department Chair J.R. Vanhoose was appointed recently by Gov. Andy Beshear to serve on the state’s Standards and Assessments Process Review Committee, which serves to review the process of recommending changes to core subject standards and ensures that the process is carried out sufficiently and researched thoroughly, according to the Kentucky Department of Education’s website.
Pack sentenced to three concurrent life sentences during heated sentencing proceedings
During a hearing on Oct. 28 in Johnson County Circuit Court, Ronnie Pack, 23, of Depot Street, Paintsville, who was charged with three murder charges in relation to the deaths of his wife, Myrtle Renee Dorton (Pack) as well as Paula Wells and Richard Morman, was sentenced to serve three life sentences concurrently.
