Residents in Butte County were briefly ordered by authorities to evacuate after a new fire ignited Wednesday afternoon.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office ordered residents in part of Palermo to leave after a blaze called the Grubbs Fire sparked several miles south of the Thompson Fire, a 3,500-acre blaze that spread near Oroville and prompted more than 13,000 people to evacuate.

Sheriff’s officials shortly before 5 p.m. put Palermo evacuation zones 867 and 868 under evacuation orders, but the orders were reduced to warning before 6 p.m. and all warnings were lifted by 6:30 p.m. There were about 159 structures in the zones with mandatory evacuation orders, a Butte County sheriff’s evacuation map shows.

Zones 866 and 869 were also briefly under evacuation warnings, deputies said online .

Cal Fire reported the fire at 10 acres.
