Video shows Cathedral City officer shoot man who police say was armed
The Cathedral City Police Department has released video that shows an officer shooting a man last year, resulting in injuries that required hospitalization. Police say the video shows the man pointing a gun at the officer from inside a car, but that portion of the footage is too dark to clearly make out.

Second of 3 Defendants in La Quinta Retail Theft Case Pleads Guilty
One of three people suspected of stealing $2,300 in merchandise from a La Quinta cosmetics store pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge Tuesday. Khamyra Smith, 20, of Moreno Valley, pleaded guilty to grand theft of over $950 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. Judge Arthur Hester immediately sentenced Smith to 12 months of formal probation, according to Thalia Hayden of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
