With the NHL free agent signing period underway, NHL.com is taking a look at the top remaining unsigned free agents (listed in alphabetical order by position). The 33-year-old had 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists) in 67 games with the Blackhawks this season. Signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning as an undrafted free agent on March 7, 2011, Johnson has 431 points (193 goals, 238 assists) in 738 regular-season games for the Blackhawks and Lightning and 65 points (32 goals, 33 assists) in 116 playoff games. He won the Stanley Cup twice with the Lightning, in 2020 and 2021.

Shortly after landing defenseman Brandon Montour, the Seattle Kraken grabbed another free agent in center Chandler Stephenson, leaving the Vegas Golden Knights on a seven-year deal with $6.25 million annually.

Brandon Montour lifted the Stanley Cup last week. Now he’s getting ready to lift his belongings into a moving truck. The veteran defenseman will be on the move from the Florida Panthers to the Seattle Kraken, signing a seven-year contract worth seven million dollars annually, according to multiple reports just minutes before the opening of NHL free agency on Monday at 9am PT.

The City and County of Denver likely will pay $500,000 next week to settle lawsuits against the police and sheriff’s departments. The City Council will vote Monday on two settlements. The first, stemming from a lawsuit filed against the police department in U.S. District Court, case 2023 CV00750-RM-JPO, is for $100,000. The second settlement is for $400,000 to be paid to Scott Peters and stems from a prisoner’s civil rights allegedly being violated, according to Justia. According to Justia, the lawsuit lists as defendants the City and County of Denver, Daniel Rodriguez, John Doe 1, John Doe 2, John Doe 3-12, Mohammed Mohammed, Michael Fitzmaurice, James Casias, Billie Humbles, Daniel Trujillo, Ian Schiffhauer, Michael Bennett, Cherif Sarr and Noreen Roberson. Additional information was not available Thursday.
