Signs are (literally) pointing to yes. A former 99 Cents Only store in Palm Springs that closed when the entire chain went out of business will soon become a Dollar Tree, according to a new sign posted on the building.

Dollar Tree Inc. had earlier announced it bought the leases of 99 Cents Only locations in Palm Desert and Palm Springs, along with scores of others around the western United States. That didn't guarantee either would become Dollar Tree stores, though, since business hiccups can arise.

But now a "Dollar Tree Coming Soon" banner hung on the Palm Springs location along Sunrise Way seems to provide confirmation. Before it held the 99 Cents Only store, the same space housed a Fresh & Easy grocery store — another chain that went out of business .

Dollar Tree already has nine stores in the Coachella Valley, two of them in Palm Springs, according to a store locations map on its website. Its sister store, Family Dollar, also has three in the east valley.
