Video shows burglars crash into Palmetto CVS in effort to steal from ATM, police say

Two accused burglars were caught on video trying to steal an ATM from a CVS in Palmetto after crashing an SUV into the front of the store, police said.

Just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the driver of a silver Mitsubishi SUV backed through the front doors of the CVS at 945 Eighth Ave. W., the surveillance video shows.

The passenger got out of the SUV and wrapped a cable around the ATM near the front door. Then the driver pulled forward and tore the ATM in half, police said.

The burglars, who have not been identified by police, fled the scene without taking money from the ATM.

However, there was significant damage to the store, police said.

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the accused burglars or to find the SUV.

The passenger, who is average height or tall, was wearing a yellow hoodie, black pants and a white cloth over their face. A description of the driver, who never got out of the SUV, was not available.
