Construction underway on Georgia's largest Buc-ee's, opening slated for summer 2025
The wait won't be much longer on Georgia getting a new Buc-ee's. Construction has started on the Brunswick location on Georgia 99 at the I-95 exit. It's being built by J. Raymond Construction out of Florida. Media coordinator Crissy Gonzales said via email that the Buc-ee's has a tentative opening date of June 2, 2025. However, that date is subject to change.
Too Polluted for Swimming: 87% of Georgia’s Rivers and Streams Are in Crisis
Georgia’s streams are in crisis. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 87.7% of Georgia’s assessed creeks, rivers, and streams are too polluted for swimming. Georgia's Homeless Voters to Face New Election Mail Pickup Requirements Amidst Controversy
In a move that's drawn a mixture of concern and support, Georgia's new law, outlined in Senate Bill 189, is set to change election mail procedures for the state's homeless population. Starting next year, these voters will need to retrieve their election-related mail, including precinct cards and absentee ballots, exclusively at their county's main elections office. Particularly in Atlanta, this means a journey of about 20 miles south from city-center shelters to the Fulton County elections office in Fairburn, a trek complicated by the lack of a direct public transit route.
