MADISON, Wis. — On Monday, Gov. Evers held press conferences alongside local leaders in Madison, Eau Claire, and La Crosse to urge voters to vote no on the two misleading GOP-backed Constitutional Amendments on the August 13 ballot. Gov. Evers shared with voters how these two amendments would prevent any Governor from acting swiftly to help Wisconsinites in moments of emergency.
Federal government invests in rural communities
FALL CREEK, Wis. (WEAU) - The federal government announced thousands of dollars coming to northwest Wisconsin as part of a program to help rural communities. Dr. Basil Gooden, U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary of Rural Development, visited Beaver Creek Reserve to announce a $70,000 investment for the West Central Regional Planning Commission to help showcase outdoor recreation in the area.

Big Lots announced it would close 149 stores in 28 states earlier this year and citing inflation and competitive difficulties as the cause. “While we made substantial progress on improving our business operations in Q1, we missed our sales goals due largely to a continued pullback in consumer spending by our core customers, particularly in high ticket discretionary items,” President and CEO Bruce Thorn announced in June.

Remains identified of Wisconsin soldier killed in Korean War
(WLUK) -- The remains of a Wisconsin soldier who was reported missing in action nearly 75 years ago during the Korean War have been identified. U.S. Army Cpl. Robert P. Raess, 21, of Dodgeville, was accounted for March 26, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced Tuesday. Scientists used anthropological analysis, mitochondrial DNA analysis and circumstantial evidence to identify Raess's remains.
