( KRON ) – An elderly woman was the victim of a jewelry swap theft, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. Two suspects are at large.

Palo Alto PD was notified of a grand theft of a woman in her eighties on the 2600 block of Cowper Street around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The victim was walking with her husband when a man and a woman in a light-colored sedan pulled up near them to ask for directions to the freeway. A man was driving the car and a woman was in the passenger seat. After the victim informed the two on how to get to the freeway, the woman motioned for the victim to come closer to the car.

The woman got out of the vehicle and placed a ring on the victim's finger and a necklace around the victim's neck. According to police, the victim was already wearing one necklace. The victim assumed the jewelry was a gesture for giving the couple directions. The victim attempted to give the jewelry back to the woman, but she retreated to the car and the driver went in an "unknown direction."

The victim's necklace was valued at more than $1,000, according to police.
