VALÉ is a fiercely talented vocalist and songwriter from Barranquilla, Colombia. Drawn to music at an early age, VALÉ began performing when she was just 6 years old in her school choir. By her early teens, she had found inspiration in American pop and R&B music, and began writing songs of her own. Influenced by some of her idols, VALÉ started to forge her own unique voice and point of view on the genre. She has spent time writing and recording in Los Angeles and Barranquilla, assembling a new collection of singles to be released throughout the year as a followup to her EP, Early Emotional Tapes. VALÉ’s infectious melodies, catchy hooks, and standout vocals are bound to win fans from all around the world, establishing VALÉ as the leader in a new generation of Colombian pop artists.

An PEOPLE's Spring Emerging Artist, VALÉ recently released the anticipated EP, under the sun. Created entirely in Barranquilla, Colombia, the six-song set encapsulates VALÉ's musings on love, empowerment, life, creative expression, and identity, all while blending Alternative, Pop, R&B, and Latin sounds. Kicking off with the haunting Reggaeton anthem "malvado" featuring Trinidad Cardona, VALÉ takes listeners on a rebellious ride where she and Cardona revel in their freedom, indulging in late-night escapades and defiance; a Paltrocast interview with Cardona can be seen here. Another highlight is the carefree club odyssey track "arrebatao," which explores the thrill of living in the moment and losing inhibitions. On the final track, "siempre seras mi corazon," which translates to "you will always be my heart," VALÉ reflects on her emotional connection to her roots and the difficulty of being away from home. The lyrics convey a poignant blend of homesickness and emotional vulnerability, capturing the bittersweet experience of missing something deeply cherished.

under the sun's arrival follows the release of recent singles "fit mami" and "chill like that," which both received praise from Rolling Stone, People, ¡Hola!, Ones To Watch, Global Grind and Contrast Magazine alike. Earlier this year, VALÉ dazzled sold-out audiences across North America as the direct support for Ross Lynch's The Driver Era. I had the pleasure of speaking with VALÉ about this and more via Zoom in July 2024, as embedded above and set to air via the Long Beach, New York-based Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz television series.
