Iconic melodic death metal pioneers Dark Tranquillity are back with the next revelation of the new musical chapter that is Endtime Signals. The band -- comprised of Mikael Stanne (vocals), Johan Reinholdz (guitar), Martin Brändström (electronics), Christian Jansson (bass) and Joakim Strandberg Nilsson (drums) -- recently presented their next single "Not Nothing." The song is about the insignificance of humanity in the big scheme of things. This philosophical provocation fits seamlessly in the overall gloomy themes of Endtime Signals.

Endtime Signals not only marks the 13th studio album for Dark Tranquility, but also the Swedish group's 10th album collaboration with their label Century Media Records. Building on the success of previous releases such as 2016's Atoma (which climbed up to #2 in the Swedish album charts) and 2020's Moment (which earned the band a Swedish Grammis award), the band is set to continue to redefine and deliver a top-tier musical experience with Endtime Signals. In addition, the band recently announced a U.S. co-headline tour in support of their new album with Amorphis and support from Fire In The Distance in September and October, which will kick off on September 3rd in Richmond, Virginia and conclude on October 6th in New York City.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dark Tranquility's Mikael Stanne via Zoom, as embedded above and set to air via the Long Beach, New York-based Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz television series. Beyond Endtime Signals, we discussed the past and future of the band, influences and video games.
