PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) – A Panama City Beach couple is seeking the public’s help after their home was destroyed in a fire on Thursday morning.

The fire happened a little before 9 a.m. at a house on the corner of Petunia and Dogwood Street.

Panama City Beach firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic, causing major damage to the home.

Emme Helton and her boyfriend Tyler Shedarowich were not home at the time, however, the kitchen was destroyed. Their appliances, furniture, home furnishings, clothing, and personal items were also ruined.

Firefighters saved their two dogs, Aphrodite and Apollo. However, both needed veterinary care, so now they have vet bills.

A GoFundMe page has been set up and the family says they are grateful for any donations they receive.
