PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Every third Friday of the month the Historical Society of Bay County invites the public to join them for coffee, cookies, and conversation regarding the county’s history.

Every monthly gathering is free and runs from 9 to 11 a.m.

Some of the items on display at the museum now include photos of Bay County during the 20th century, an exhibit on the historic Gideon Wainwright case, and items from the old Panama City Paper Mill.

The society hosts this event not only to bring new people into the museum but also to strengthen the relationships between residents in the Bay County community.

“You don’t tend to go and just have that easy one-on-one with someone,” said Historical Society of Bay County President Beverly Nield. “To come here and have a conversation I think is really important. I am glad that we’ve been able to start this and hopefully, it will grow and lots of people will have the opportunity to get out and talk to somebody.”

The Bay County History Museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays for anyone who can’t attend the coffee, cookies, and conversation events.

Admission into the museum is always free, however, donations are accepted and appreciated.
