Everything to Know About Michael Jackson's Brothers and Sisters
By Mike Bloom,
Michael Jackson's career always came back to his family. The late "King of Pop" burst onto the scene as part of the "Jackson Five" with four of his brothers. And, while the mega-popstar went on to become a record-breaking artist before his death in 2009, the Jackson family is one that appears throughout decades of show business.
Here's everything you need to know about Michael Jackson's brothers and sisters.
How many siblings does Michael Jackson have?
Michael Jackson had nine brothers and sisters, as well as one half-sibling.
Rebbie Jackson , born in 1950, is the eldest child of the Jackson family. She didn't join show business until the 1970s, when she began to join her already-famous brothers on stage. Rebbie then began a solo career in the 1980s, most notably singing the hit song "Centipede." She married Nathaniel Brown in 1968 through his death in 2013. The pair had three children together, including Austin Brown , who has lent his vocals to tracks by Jojo and Ariana Grande .

Jackie Jackson , born in 1951, is the oldest son of the Jacksons, and the founding member of the Jackson Five. He served as one of the lead vocalists on the band's many hits. He later released a couple of solo albums, and currently is a producer in the music industry.

Tito Jackson was born in 1953. Though many members of his famous family are known for their vocal talents, Tito was the guitarist of the Jackson Five, and was directly encouraged by his father Joe to start a band with his brothers. Tito has released two solo albums. His three sons, Toriano Adaryll Jackson Jr. , T aryll Adren Jackson , and Tito Joe Jackson , started their own family band called "3T" in 1994.

Jermaine Jackson was born in 1954. While obviously his brother Michael had the most impact on the music industry, Jermaine is no slouch. Jermaine was one of the primary songwriters and vocalists of the band, behind some of its biggest hits. He controversially left the group, though, in 1976, as his brothers signed with CBS. Instead, Jermaine opted to stay behind with Motown Records, pursuing a solo career and putting out hits like "Do What You Do" and "Let’s Get Serious."

La Toya Jackson , born in 1956, is the second daughter in the Jackson family. She occasionally provided background vocals for the Jackson Five, but also pursued her own solo career, releasing albums like "La Toya" and "My Special Love" in the 1980s. La Toya has been one of the most outspoken critics of her family, accusing her father Joe of abuse in her 1991 memoir La Toya: Growing Up In The Jackson Family . She is also stepped the most into the world of reality TV out of her famous family, appearing on series like Celebrity Big Brother , The Celebrity Apprentice , The Masked Singer , Worst Cooks in America , and even helming her own series Life with La Toya .
Marlon Jackson

Marlon Jackson was born in 1957 with his twin brother Brandon. Marlon was one of the members of the Jackson Five, and seemed to be one of the closest to his brother Michael. He delivered a tearful eulogy at his funeral, calling him the "soul" of their family. Compared to his siblings, Marlon did not dip his toes much into the music business. Instead, he went more into the corporate side of tings, founding the Major Broadcasting Cable Network in 1999, which later became the Black Family Channel.
Brandon Jackson was Marlon's twin, also born in 1957. Tragically, Brandon died soon after being born, leaving a profound impact on the family. During Marlon's eulogy at Michael's funeral, he said, "I would like for you to give our brother, my twin brother, Brandon, a hug for me."

Randy Jackson (not to be confused with the American Idol judge of the same name) was born in 1961. He's the youngest brother in the Jackson family, and was the latest to join the Jackson Five, replacing Jermaine when the group left Motown Records for CBS. After the band broke up, Randy stayed in the music industry, largely on the business side. Most notably, he bought and became president of Modern Records in 1998. In 2018, he also co-founded Rhythm Nation Records with his sister Janet.

Janet Jackson was born in 1966 and is the youngest member of the Jacksons. Besides Michael, she is regarded as the most famous member of the Jackson family. Over her decades of a solo career, Janet has sold over 100 million records, putting out classic songs such "Nasty," "Rhythm Nation," "That's the Way Love Goes," "Together Again," and "All for You." She also holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist with 18. During her illustrious career, Janet has earned five Grammys, an Oscar nomination, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Joh'Vonnie Jackson is the daughter of Joe Jackson and Cheryl Terrell, who the Jackson patriarch had an affair with in 1974. Though technically Michael's half-sister, she has very much seemed to be distant from the Jackson family. In a 2018 interview with the Daily Mail , she alleged that she was actually "hidden away" and never accepted by the Jacksons. "I have met every single last one of them," she said. "But for some reason there has always been something stopping them from accepting me, from being close to me. Of course, when I was around them, there was a show of love. But once I was gone, there was no phone calls asking how I’m doing or how is my daughter doing. It’s upsetting, real hurtful and I still feel rejected."
