A massive fire took out parts of the property Marc Anthony owns in La Romana, Dominican Republic, earlier today.

Local media outlets captured footage of the blaze on Thursday, Aug. 8, as flames engulfed some bungalows, which Page Six reported were used for visiting guests. A video shared on Instagram by the Latin American talk show El Gordo y La Flaca showed firefighters arriving to battle the wall of flames visible in the background. Black smoke pumped into the air as the fire ate up parts of the property, leaving charred remains behind.

After firefighters successfully extinguished the flames, the talk show shared new footage showing how the incident had impacted the singer’s home, with the bungalows appearing mostly destroyed. A spokesperson for the four-time Grammy Award winner told TMZ that the main villa was not directly impacted by the fire.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire to ignite. Anthony, 55, and his wife Nadia Ferreira , whom he married last year, were not at the villa at the time of the fire, nor were any of Anthony’s children, according to TMZ . No one who was at the property at the time of the fire was injured, the publication reported.

The fire started at about 7 a.m. local time on Thursday near the villa’s pool, according to Dominican Today . Firefighters were reportedly at the scene shortly after the fire began and extinguished the flames after about two hours. While video footage captured the view of the post-fire villa from above, the full extent of the fire’s damage had yet to be calculated in the early hours after the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire was under investigation by local authorities as of Thursday evening. The nine-time Latin Grammy Award winner was informed of the fire and thanked the emergency responders who fought to extinguish the blaze, according to Dominican Today .
