As a star player, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has plenty of good advice for the rookies on his team—including how to deal with being on TV.

In a clip from training camp shared to the Chiefs TikTok account, Kelce, 34, counseled another player—who appeared to be 23-year-old tight end Jared Wiley —on how to respond to the cameras.

"Have you ever been on TV?" Kelce asked, adding, "Say hi to mom!"

The other player then turned to the camera and waved, with both athletes saying hello to their mothers.

"We've got some mama's boys on the squad," the Chiefs captioned the post.

Fans loved seeing Kelce take time out to guide a younger teammate.

"Awww Kelce helping the rookies," commented one person.

"Teach them the ropes!!" wrote another.

Another Chiefs rookie, Kingsley Suamataia , spoke to the press earlier this week about Kelce's continued support.

"It feels like an older brother relationship that I have with him," said the 21-year-old offensive tackle.

"He kind of took me under his wing when I first got here. It's real nice having him, having that role model."

At the same press conference, Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy called Kelce a mentor, citing his "continual growth as a leader."

"You get to this part of camp right now, it can be a little bit grueling," Nagy said. "You can get a little bit of that 'I feel sorry for myself' mode...he doesn't let that happen. And when you hear that come from a player like Kelce, it impacts these young guys and they push through, so I think that his leadership's been great."

In January 2024, Chiefs tight end Izaiah Gathings spoke out about Kelce's kindness to him on his first day in Kansas City, when he sat down to eat lunch alone.

"I didn't really know anybody on the team," Gathings said in a video on his YouTube channel . "[There were] already people from the team in the lunch room when I get in there but I don't know nobody so I go sit at the table by myself."

"I'm eating my food, I'm minding my own business, I'm on my phone," he continued. "And I see two plates of food slap down beside me out of the corner of my eye."

Gathings didn't realize who he was sitting with until "all of a sudden whoever it was said: 'Yo, what's up with you, my boy? You straight (good)?'"

"Fool, it's Travis Kelce," he added. "I look up from my phone. I see who it is. I'm like: 'Hell, yeah, I'm straight. You good?'"

Gathings also called Kelce "fun to be around," and "cool as hell."
