And now that the word has been put out online that the popular neighborhood retailer has officially brought back its famed Apple Cider Donuts, the seasonal floodgates have fully burst open. Upon your next visit, you can expect a healthy line of patrons just waiting to grab a batch for themselves.

Trader Joe’s Apple Cider Donuts are sold in half dozen counts for $4.49 and are made by a family-owned bakery based in Western Massachusetts. Real apple cider is used to create the donut's classic fluffy texture and slightly tangy flavor. The supplier hand rolls each donut in loads of cinnamon and sugar when they’re fresh out of the fryer, the whole process of which can be seen in this really cool How-it’s-Made video by Trader Joe’s.

“Mid August seems early for apple cider donuts but I couldn’t resist when I saw them at my store today,” wrote the ecstatic author behind a post shared to the Trader Joe’s subreddit regarding the famed donuts return. Another ominously chimed in, “It’s begun.”

One important note to point out for those looking to try TJ’s apple cider donuts for the first time: the donuts can sometimes be a bit dry. Both Trader Joe’s and fans of the popular seasonal treat recommend slightly warming the donuts up before consumption, and serving with a hot cup of coffee, tea or spiced cider. Less than 20 seconds in the microwave or a couple of minutes in the air fryer will certainly do the trick, resulting in a far more enjoyable donut experience.
