Michael Jordan . Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson . Travis Kelce . What do these three athletes have in common other than being some of the best competitors of their era? All three went on to try their hand in Hollywood, or at least, in the case of Kelce, they're about to.

As the opening game of the 2024-2025 season looms, Deadline announced on Aug. 20, 2024 that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end would be launching a second career as a movie star. The three-time Super Bowl winner and current boyfriend of pop superstar Taylor Swift is attached to an action comedy called Loose Cannons . This comes after Kelce's latest TV gig, hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?

While the project is still in the earliest days of development, here's everything we know about the upcoming Travis Kelce comedy Loose Cannons :

What movie is Travie Kelce going to star in?

According to Deadline , Travis Kelce is attached to star in the action comedy Loose Cannons which is being set up at Lionsgate with the producer of the John Wick franchise , Chad Stahelski .

When does Loose Cannons premiere?

Since Loose Cannons is still in the earliest stages of development, there is no word yet on a possible premiere date. However, presumably Kelce wouldn't be able to shoot the movie until after the NFL season concludes, which means the earliest it could film would be next spring/summer. That means we likely wouldn't see Loose Cannons in theaters until 2026 at the earliest.

Has Loose Cannons begun filming?

Not yet, and with Kelce's football schedule, it's unlikely that it will start filming until sometime in spring/summer of 2025.

Who is in the cast of Loose Cannons ?

So far the only actor attached to the project is Travis Kelce himself. Presumably as the project moves along, more actors will join the cast.

No director has been announced for the project. However, Tim Dowling is writing the script. Dowling has previously written Pixels , This Means War and Role Models .

Details on the project are still very much under wraps, but The Hollywood Reporter writes that in the movie, "Two loose cannons are forced to partner up after their precincts merge due to budget cuts and no one wants to work with them. The duo end up taking on the cases no one else can."

Not yet. Since the movie hasn't begun filming, we likely won't see a trailer for quite some time.

Has Travis Kelce starred in other movies?

No. This will be Kelce's breakout role on the big screen. While he had a brief appearance in the TV show Moonbase 8 , Kelce will be appearing in the upcoming Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie . In addition, he's the host of the new game show Are You Smarter than a Celebrity? He also produced My Dear Friend Zoe , an independent film that premiered this year at South by Southwest and will be released theatrically on Nov. 1, 2024.

Is Loose Cannons a remake of the 1990 movie?

It doesn't look like it. While there is a 1990 action comedy starring Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd that shares the same name, the plot descriptions of the two films aren't the same. The 1990 version also made very little money and has a 0% Rotten Tomatoes score so it seems unlikely that anyone would remake it.

Will Taylor Swift be in Loose Cannons ?

No word yet on if Taylor Swift will be making an appearance alongside her boyfriend. Swift does have a history of collaboration with her beaus though and she has also appeared in a number of movies, so its definitely not off the table.
