McDonald’s is in the early stages of trying out a new menu item that some believe could become as popular as the fan-favorite Big Mac .

The Golden Arches reportedly plans to launch the new item at locations in the U.S., a detail that fans who have bemoaned the release of exciting treats abroad are likely to find extremely promising.

So what exactly is stirring up all of the fan enthusiasm? According to Snackolator, it’s called the Big Arch.

Insiders at McDonald’s believe the new burger “could be as iconic as the Big Mac,” the food blogger noted in a Saturday, Aug. 24, post on Instagram . Customers in three markets, including Canada and Portugal, are currently testing the Big Arch, with McDonald’s planning “to see how the test goes in the three countries and then potentially rollout to the US and others,” Snackolator explained.

The Big Arch is reportedly larger than the traditional Big Mac and features two beef patties, three squares of white cheddar cheese , a “tangy” sauce and onions served “both fresh and crispy.” All of the ingredients are sandwiched between a brioche bun.

With the Big Arch still in its testing phase, it’s unknown exactly when the planned U.S. rollout will begin. However, many who left comments on Snackolator’s preview seemed eager to taste-test the burger once it is available.

“Oooooo looking forward to it,” one fan wrote as another declared, “I will eat that!”

“I would definitely be on board with this 👏,” one person applauded.

A couple of Instagram users celebrated McDonald’s reported plan to bring the Big Arch to the U.S. once its trial phase is over.

“I'd love for it to come to the US! It would be so cool,” one person wrote.

“Yes please! We never get any of the good stuff 😂,” another fan noted.

Despite the excitement, some customers doubted that there would ever be a menu item as iconic as the Big Mac.

“Big Mac was still better,” one person wrote.

“Had it in Portugal,” a customer shared, adding that they still “Prefer the Big Mac 🙌.”
