Golden Retriever Is the Picture of Gentle Upon Meeting Bernese Mountain Puppy Brother

There are a lot of different things you can do to prepare to introduce a new puppy to the family, which can be tough when you already have an adult dog. But no matter what you do ahead of time, the way it will go when the big moment arrives is always a bit of a toss up. After all, it's hard to know what a puppy's personality is going to be before spending a lot of time with them... and you never know how your beloved pup is going to react to a new dog who is always in their space and never leaves. It's a huge adjustment for everyone involved!

But for all the worrying that we dog parents do, sometimes, things really do just go right, and bringing home a new puppy means finding out that your dog was actually meant to be a big brother or sister.

On Sunday, July 21, @itsbrittmebish shared footage of the moment that her Golden Retriever , Granger, met her family's brand new Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Potter (sensing the Harry Potter theme here with those names?). And fortunately, it was love at first sight.

As soon as Granger sees her dad walk into the house holding the puppy, she bolts towards them, tail wagging. Of course, I don't know how much time Granger has spent around puppies before, but she did seem to innately know that she needed to be gentle, and was happy giving him the most careful sniffs. So sweet!

And while she was definitely even more excited when they finally put Potter down on the ground, Granger was still so gentle, and while Potter looked a little spooked, he was wagging his tiny tail, too.

These two are going to have the cutest adventures together.

Do Bernese Mountain Dogs and Golden Retrievers Get Along?

Not only are Potter and Granger already off to a great start, but there's more good news: their breeds are actually pretty compatible.

As one website points out, Golden Retrievers and Bernese Mountain Dogs do get along well , thanks to the fact that they're both very easy going and generally have friendly personalities. In a lot of ways, these dogs are alike

However, remember that having two of these dogs under one roof means making sure everyone gets their exercise every day will become very important. Going for daily walks is a great way to do that, though Golden Retrievers will typically need a bit more activity and stimulation than Bernese Mountain Dogs do.

Plus, these are big dogs we're talking about. They need space ā€” and they're going to eat you out of house and home!

Keeping up with their needs might not be such a big deal when you get to witness them being adorable together every day, though. Just a thought...
