It’s difficult to imagine anything positive coming from a serious horseback riding accident. However, life often surprises us, and our most incredible memories can emerge from unexpected situations. This little girl’s hard fall is one of those unique instances.
This truly inspiring story is a powerful reminder that finding good in everything is possible. Watch this video from July 20th to see what looks like a scene from a fairytale.
When I first saw this video, I wasn’t sure how Frankie (@ frankies_ponies ) could remember being thrown from a horse as a fond memory, but now I understand how it's one of her most cherished. Had her horse not slipped and thrown her, she wouldn’t have been quietly lying on the ground waiting for help (thankfully, she was okay once her shoulder was put back in place). Perhaps it was her injury and her sweet spirit that these wild Welsh Ponies sensed, as they seemed to want to lift her spirit and offer comfort.
Her mom describes, “We sat quietly on the ground. A whole herd approached through the mist, each one gently nuzzling Frankie, breathing her in, and acknowledging her before continuing up the hill.” What a magical experience! These magnificent horses look incredible from a distance, making it hard to imagine the sheer excitement of experiencing them up close.

Can a Horse Sense Human Pain?
As Horse & Rider describes, they have excellent senses: “They have been observed to react strongly and rapidly to human emotions. They effectively absorb and mirror the emotional states of the people around them.” When horses are around a positive person, they may show affectionate gestures, such as nuzzling or leaning into the individual. So, even though Frankie may have been in pain, it seems these wild horses instinctively sensed her lovely spirit.
This enchanting story touched people. Viewer @lemontea.honeybee shared, “I had a wild horse approach me during a near-death experience in Arizona. I didn’t pack enough water and was experiencing heat exhaustion and dehydration on a hike. Then, when I got back to my car, my battery was dead. As I was waiting for help, a buckskin walked over to investigate, sniffed me, and stood by while I waited. I’ll never forget it! Horses are so amazing.” They are! Viewer @sarah_prax remarked, “The horses with leaves in their hair are definitely fairies. I don’t make the rules.” It sure looked that way! Viewer @herring.vintage responded, “I have watched this so many times, and I’m sobbing. It’s so beautiful. Animals are pure magic in this world. Glad your wee girl was ok after the fall (and the horse, too!).” Thankfully, everyone was alright.
Although no one ever wants to be injured while horseback riding, at least this experience gave her the memory of a lifetime.
