Golden Retriever's Method to Make the Most of His Pup Cup Is Total Madness

Pup cups are an amazing treat for dogs. They love them, and as far as coffee shops go, they're usually one of the "healthier" options, albeit still not perfect. But, as far as making your furry friend feel included goes, a pup cup will do just fine!

Once you've passed the pup cup on, it's best to just leave the rest in the universe's hands. Whatever happens between a pup and his cup is strictly his business. If you choose to watch him eat it, you might run into something like what we saw in this video from Monday, July 29th:

Enzo the Golden needs a moment to collect himself, I think. It seems like he's kind of struggling!

Enzo is only 20 weeks (about 5 months) old, and he's already becoming a bit of a prince. He loves pup cups, going for walks, and getting told how beautiful he is whenever he steps out the house. Since he's a Golden Retriever puppy, he gets told this a lot. It's not his fault: he is beautiful!

Yesterday, he was at Starbucks for a pup cup when he started struggling. Unfortunately, pup cup means that the whipped cream is in a cup, and they can be hard to get everything out of. His humans decided to let him sort it out, and the end result is a face full of whipped cream and one cup that feels like it's been to war. It was not the most efficient way to eat the treat, but it was definitely the fun way!

How to Teach Dogs Problem-Solving Skills

Even though this just looks like a funny moment, it was actually a pretty important lesson for Enzo to learn. If you want to foster independence in your dogs, they need to be allowed to think things through and work them out on their own. If they're capable of solving their own problems, they're more likely to be okay spending time by themselves.

Even when they're puppies, you can start teaching independent thinking and problem solving skills to your dog by:

    1. Giving them puzzle toys with treats inside.
    2. Offering them a cup of whipped cream like this and letting them get it all out themselves.
    3. Putting their favorite toy under something and letting them find out how to get to it.
    4. Regular exercises like fetch in new areas with different obstacles.
    5. Giving them puzzle toys for independent play time in their crates.

Trust me, the best thing you'll ever do is teach your dog how to be independent. Do we love our stage five clingers? Of course. Do we miss going to the bathroom in peace? YES! Enzo will make the smartest, most independent boy in the world. I just know it!
