It can be a big. bad scary world out there, especially if you're a tiny Chihuahua encountering something you have never seen before that may pose a danger to your very existence.

This something just happens to be one of those Happy Birthday signs people put in their yard to celebrate a birthday. This little dog is just not having it!

The cute video was posted by the TikTok account for @ The_three_chimigos and people are in their feelings over this poor little dog. One person said, "That sign is so sus!" Another added, "I get it. That sign looks like it’s up to no good." Someone else has a dog with a similar fear and they said, "My dog was afraid of mushrooms that popped up on the side of the house after the rain."

Someone else makes a really good point with, "Just wait until it's Halloween!" and that is so true. So many dogs get frightened when people put up their Halloween decorations .

Considering Halloween will be here before we know it, here's how you can help your scaredy cat or dog this Halloween season.

How To Help a Pet That's Afraid of Halloween Decorations

This can be a scary time for pets.

You can start by introducing your pet to the decorations from a safe distance. This means if you are walking your dog you should cross the street if you see a decorated house in the distance. Use a reassuring voice and praise your dog when you pass the house. Reward your pet with treats, praise, or playtime whenever they approach or calmly observe the decorations so you are using positive reinforcement.

Whatever you do, if your pet is really scared, don't force them to walk by or interact with the decorations, because this can make a fearful dog apprehensive or worse, aggressive. Try to stay as relaxed as possible because your dog can read your body language and if you are tense, they will be tense. This is even true with indoor decorations, and it's not worth scaring your dog just for the sake of having a pumpkin in your house. Or you can place your decorations in a room your dog is rarely in.

Some dogs, on the other hand, have no issue with Halloween decorations.

If your pet's fear is severe and doesn't improve with positive reenforcement and treats, consider consulting a pet trainer or a veterinarian who specializes in animal behavior or who may be able to suggest medication for your dog.
