Corgi Does 'Signature Dance' at Day Care and Everyone's Into It

Does anyone else remember being in grade school and having the "class clown?" There might've been multiple, but if you went to a small-town school like I did, your class clown was the same every year, and odds are, one of their parents was the class clown before them.

Apparently, class clowns are also a big part of doggy daycare. Recently, a Corgi was caught on camera busting his signature moves in front of his friends, and they're kind of incredible:

The Chronicles of Gumbo have never been boring, he makes sure of that. These are some serious moves!

Gumbo is a 2.5 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He lives in Pittsburgh with his parents and has since he was a puppy. When they first got him, they did a fair amount of puppy training content on his page, and he's become a little star with over 10,000 since then!

One thing they didn't train into him, though, are his amazing dance moves. He picked those up on his own, and rumor has it, he's coordinating a flash-mob with the other dogs at the daycare. He's the leader, though, because he has the best moves out of all of them. Just look at those little hops!

How do Doggy Daycares Keep Dogs Behaving?

I worked in a human daycare for a few months one time, and let me tell you, it was not easy. There's a clear difference between that and a doggy daycare, though: humans are humans, and dogs are not. With so many different training styles and different breeds to contend with, keeping everyone at a doggy daycare in line is not easy.

Doggy daycare employees usually have a few tricks up their sleeves, like:

    1. Using treats to lure dogs from one place to the next.
    2. Separating them in the smartest possible way, whether by breed, size, or energy level.
    3. Having a schedule they follow every single day so the dogs know what they should be doing.
    4. Keeping misbehaving dogs on leashes.
    5. Working with existing skills based on whatever training the parents have been doing.

When you're ready to drop your dog off at daycare, it's good to over-prepare. You'll typically have to fill out an intake form so they can get a better idea of what your dog is like, but talking one-on-one with the employees and scheduling a meeting time first is always a good idea. You should also introduce them to the daycare life slowly, only a few hours at a time, to see how they're doing with it. Your dog could be the next class clown if you do it right!
