Golden Retriever Shuts His Mom's Computer When He Needs Attention & He's Not Even Sorry

Working from home isn't for everyone, but for those of us who love the opportunity to stay home, hanging out with our pets, it can be pretty sweet. I love working remotely for that reason; I will take any opportunity to be cuddled up with my cats on the couch or to hang out with my dog instead of sadly saying goodbye early in the morning to drive to a dog-free office! But if you're home, you're probably also being pestered by your pup just a little bit. If mom or dad is around, they're going to want some of their attention!

Knowing this, it's not surprising that it can be a bit of a bummer for your pooch when you have to dedicate your energy to a certain work project or meeting and save the pets and the extra love for later, when the work day is done... and it's also not surprising that some dogs, like the one in this TikTok video, would do what they can to direct that attention right back to themselves.

On Saturday, August 3, @rivermaisen shared this video of her Golden Retriever , River, who is absolutely not sorry that he interrupted her workday — not one bit.

As his mom tells it, River shut her computer while she was working because he wanted her attention, and when she told him that was not good boy behavior, he hid his face, burying it in her shoulder. Don't listen to her, River! You are a good boy, I swear!

Plenty of people came to River's defense in the comments — sorry to his mom, but the majority of commenters are definitely taking the dog's side on this one.

"You cannot say no to the cuddle tax! It's the law," one person wrote, while another commented, "You apologize to that baby. He just needs love!"

Working From Home With Needy Dogs

Some dogs will be confused that you're technically home but unavailable if you have a period while working from home that you really can't stop to give them the attention they desire every five minutes.

Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to make the workday more pleasant for everyone involved, but especially your dog. I've noticed that it helps to give my dog her own space in my office, complete with a comfy bed and toys next to my desk, so she can lounge next to me and we can spend as much time together as we want.

If you're able to take a break during the day, make sure to give your pup a little extra love during that time. A midday walk would likely do both of you some good!

And of course, make sure that as soon as you're off the clock, you hand out the same pets and cuddles you would if you were seeing your dog for the first time all day after work. They've been waiting all day to have your full attention, after all.
