Mom Takes 3 Cats on Flight Who Are Better Behaved Than Most Humans

There are so many hassles that come with air travel — even under the best of circumstances. Between actually getting to the airport, dealing with luggage, long TSA lines, and making sure you board on time, it can be a giant headache when you're only responsible for yourself. But when you're also responsible for a pet? That can take things into an even more stressful category. A lot of dogs and cats don't like to fly, not that I would ever blame them.

On the other side of the coin, there are pets who absolutely thrive while traveling (not my pets, but they do exist). That's why it's so incredible to see videos like the ones below...

On Monday, August 5, @spongecake_cats shared a video of her three cats on a plane with her — both in the carrier and outside of it. I'm seriously impressed, because though I've never taken my cats on a flight before, they have traveled in the car enough for me to know that they absolutely hate it!

What's more is that this was a six hour flight, so not only were her cats (whose names are Sponge Cake, Mocha, and Donut) better behaved than most humans, but they were also better behaved for a really long time.

It looks like the kitties slept for most of the flight, and when they were awake, they were so chill — even in the moments where they were squishing each other, which would have surely sparked a fight between many cat siblings out there.

And for anyone else whose wondering how this cat mom handled the bathroom for these kitties during such a long flight, she told a commenter that she brought a portable litter box she brought with her to the plane lavatory so they could empty their bladders on board. So smart!

    More About These Traveling Cats

It wasn't just this flight that Sponge Cake, Mocha, and Donut are well behaved on — it's every flight, because they actually travel the world with their parents. From New York City to Rome, they've seen it all!

They're not naturally good at traveling, though; their humans, Olivia and Dan Nguyen, have trained their 3-year-old cats to be pros at crossing the globe.

“The training process involved a good amount of positive reinforcement such as treats and gentle petting,” the cats' mom, Olivia, told People in January. “I think the foundation of the training was actually building trust with the kitties that started at home from day one. When we travel, we continue to give them treats and gentle petting to make them feel safe and comfortable.”

So far, Paris has been their favorite travel destination, and they go yearly. “Paris is pet-friendly, and it simply has a lot of charm to offer," she said.

I can't wait to see where they are off to next!
