Dogs have certain things that just irk them, just like human do. Instead of things like open-mouth chewing or people who are rude to other people, though, dogs tend to have more confusing beefs. With statues, and water fountains, and other animals they've seen before.

And, apparently, ceiling fans. On Tuesday, August 6th, one dog mom showed off her pup's serious beef with her home's ceiling fan. He was just trying to keep her safe, and she was definitely grateful to have his protection:

Simon Sits is the best boy. He knows how to keep his mom safe - that's all that matters!

Simon is many things, and he's a man of many talents. He's an excellent foster brother to the many fosters his mom brings through their house. He's great at teaching them how to play, and he's good company, too. He's also perfect for making sure mom gets her exercise in every day, since he demands long walks!

Most importantly, Simon is a protector. He will protect his mom from literally anything that gets a little too close to her, including the ceiling fan. He can't stand it! Not only is it moving, but it moves around pretty quickly. What's to stop it from swallowing her right up?!

Why do Dogs Hate Ceiling Fans so Much?

It's not just Simon who hates ceiling fans: there are millions of dogs who can't stand them. Whether you've got a rescue or a puppy who's just discovering them for the first time or your dog has simply decided they don't like them anymore, it can make things a little bit harder on us.

As silly as it may seem to us, there are lots of reasons why dog's don't like ceiling fans. Your dog might:

    1. Dislike the whooshing noise it makes.
      1. Many fans also make clicking noises when they're out of balance that dogs also dislike.
    2. Feel threatened by the fast, constant movement.
    3. Get spooked by a shadow it casts on the floor.
    4. Not like the feeling of being fanned/blown on.

It is absolutely the silliest thing in the world: no one is denying that. However, rolling your eyes and trying to move on isn't going to solve the problem. While they might get bored and give up, they might not. Try showing them the remote for it, turning it onto a lower speed, or fixing the balance so it's not making any weird noises. Quiet and leave it commands work wonders, too!
