When you're thirsty, nothing will suffice except a little cold, refreshing water. Kira the cat agrees, which is why she's going directly to the source to quench her thirst only, it's not going so well.

A recent TikTok video shared by Kali and Friends ( @kaliandfuriends ) shows the kitty trying and failing to get a good amount of water into her mouth. It's a kind of a hot mess, but she doesn't give up. Watch her have it!

In the hilarious clip that lasts almost a whole minute, Kira bites, chomps, and paws the little droplets of water coming from the faucet. She must really need a drink because despite the battle this has become, she sticks with it, taking whatever it gives her. It's really a sight!

This isn't Kira's first rodeo. The funny feline is already a star. Her previous video show the photogenic cat's personality in all its glory and another video that's captioned, "She does get away with everything," proving Kira is the queen of not only thi castle, but all other castles, too.

Still, this faucet situation is probably our favorite for the sheer effort she puts into such a tiny amount of reward!

Why Do Cats Like Drinking From the Faucet?

Cats always have a special way of doing things. If you have a kitty like Kira who prefers water from a faucet , there may actually be reasons they're doing it. However, because tap water isn't safe in all places, you might want to teach them to opt for water from a bowl instead.

Catster explains cats that drink from a faucet may be doing so out of instinct. In the wild, they've learned water that's still might contain dangerous germs or parasites so they think running water is safer. Likewise, if your cat's water bowl is in a spot that makes them feel unsafe, they might prefer to jump up high on the sink to drink.

If your kitty is playful, they might turn to faucet water because it's more fun than drinking from a bowl. I mean, look at it! You can catch it midstream, which engages them mentally.

Other reasons to note are, if they don't like their water bowl in general or if they don't like where it's at (near a litter box), try subbing in a different one and moving it to a cleaner space.

If they still prefer the faucet like Kira, then sorry, but you can't win this fight so let them have at it!
