Black Labrador Flings Doorknob When Mom Asks For ‘Quiet’ Like Tantrum-Throwing Toddler

Dogs are too smart for their own good sometimes. They teach themselves things when we least expect it. Pepper, the Black Labrador Retriever, seems to have taught himself how to turn the doorknob, so even if it's locked, he's going to push it until she gets his way.

The hilarious August 11 TikTok video shared by his TikTok account, @blacklabpepper, shows the smart boy trying to get Mom's attention by utilizing his special doorknob skills. Only she's not having it right now! Check him out!

"I don’t even know how Pepper learned how to open doors," the caption reads. "Good thing locks exist." Pepper can be seen outside, looking in through the backdoor window, wildly flinging the knob to get Mom's attention.

"I just wanted 10 minutes of peace and quiet," the video says, but Pepper disagrees. His toddler-like tantrum lasts about eight seconds, but it's long enough to make an absolute scene. Hundreds of people have flocked to the post to joke about the door-savvy dog.

"He meant business!! Open the door, or no one is getting peace and quiet," one person wrote. “'We know you’re in there, and you have snacks!' Lol!" another said. "When you have kids, there is no such thing as peace and quiet," another added.

Pepper will have his voice heard, somehow, some way!

How To Stop Your Dog From Opening Doors

Okay, so Pepper is too funny, but if you have a dog who's learned how to turn handles—which can be dangerous if they bolt out the door without you knowing—Paws In Training Behavior Specialists advise it's time to rethink your door design to stop them from opening doors .

Lever handles, such as the ones Pepper is familiar with, are made with just the right area for them to learn how to press down a paw or use their mouth to open. The site says to replace those handles with round knobs. Dogs don't have the physicality needed to open a door with a round knob.

If you aren't able to replace knobs entirely, at least consider child-proofing the doors made for lever handles. Dogs who have figured out how the levers work will take a bit to unlearn the behavior, but with locking mechanisms, they'll soon give up once they realize it's a waste of time.

No doubt, dogs who do these kinds of things are a riot to watch, but keeping them safe from going in or out at their leisure comes first. Sorry, Pepper!
