Dogs who've bonded to their humans will do anything to protect them, even if their humans are babies. Just ask Henry the German Shorthaired Pointer, who promised to care for his human sisters the moment they met. When one starts to cry, Henry's there to swoop in and tell Mom right away.

In an August 18, 2024 TikTok video shared by Meghan Martin ( @meghanmartin0 ), the concerned pup does a great job as guard dog alerting Mom to help the crying baby. Check it out!

In the 15-second clip captioned, "When your GSP points for you to pick up *his* crying baby," Henry utilizes his genetic skills as a Pointer pup to check the baby. He sits in front of Mom pointing to the baby, and runs back to the baby to make sure Mom gets what he's saying. He does this a couple of times with more urgency the longer Mom doesn't pick up his human sister, and his concern is evident.

"Is she okay?" Martin asks him. He checks again hoping this time she'll help "his" baby. His determination to get Mom's attention is everything and the comment section agrees.

"He said 'please I have no thumbs,'" one person wrote. "He’s like 'mom pick up my baby like now I mean now,'" another added. "I think he said to put her in the swing," another noted to which Meghan replied, "Rewatching he does point his nose to the swing..like 'here mom put them here!'"

He's the best big brother there ever was, that's for sure!

German Shorthaired Pointers Are Amazing Dogs

German Shorthaired Pointers are known to be a well-rounded, very versatile dog with a friendly disposition. The American Kennel Club says that the GSP breed has a lot going for them that makes them stand out among other breeds.

Though originally bred to be a multitasking hunting dog with strong prey drive who can "hunt, point, and retrieve," they're also great family companions who do well with children. Well, as long as they've been trained and socialized. Their boundless energy and extremely high activity level needs could make them chaotic for small kids otherwise, but again, training is key.

With so much energy, this is a dog that needs a lot of exercise to keep them from becoming destructive out of boredom. The good news is GSPs excel in most sports and they can never have enough exercise. And, just like Henry, they're excellent companions who'll love and protect—even when it's a crying baby! They truly are amazing!
