Grieving your dog is one of the hardest things you'll ever do in your life. You're losing a piece of your family, a piece of your heart. Whether you considered them your baby, your friend, your uncle... it doesn't matter. It all hurts the same.

On Tuesday, August 20th, a woman posted about her dad's grief journey. After his dog passed away, he swore off getting another one unless they came to find him. Exactly one year later, one did just that:

I just know that Chelsea Rae Belcher and her dad, Nick, are ecstatic to have had this experience. More than that, I think it's pretty obvious that their beloved Lucy girl definitely wanted it to happen!

Lucy was a Chocolate Lab, and she was absolutely precious. As the house's resident Old Lady, she could be a bit of a princess at time, something that she deserved. Everyone in her house, including her Boxer buddy Dozer, has been feeling her loss - he never knew a home without her.

Unfortunately, she passed, and they've just been waiting. They never expected that their one requirement (that their next pup find them) would actually happen. But it did; on one outing recently, they found a beautiful Blue Tick Hound. After spending a little bit of time looking around for a family who might've lost her, they came up empty handed.

Given the name Daisy, she's settled in perfectly with her family. She loves to snuggle, she's having fun playing with Dozer, and she's pretty sassy: don't get in her way at dinnertime, or else!

What Are Blue Tick Hounds Like?

When they found her, they didn't know too much about what Daisy was like: she was a stray dog. Their first priorities were things like a vet visit, making sure she was okay, and making sure she didn't have a family that was waiting on her.

When they got everything else out of the way, Daisy's family found that she's:

    1. Talkative; Blue Tick Hounds are not afraid to bark!
    2. Very friendly and willing to meet new people and dogs.
    3. In love with sniffing everything, all the time.
    4. High-energy: not only do BTHs need a lot of physical exercise, they need lots of mental stimulation.
    5. Fast. Let go of them for a moment and they'll take off!

She's a good girl, and since coming home, she's really blossomed into exactly what they needed to fill the hole in their home. No matter what, though, Lucy will always be with the!
