Moment Horse Brothers Remember Each Other After Being Apart for Years Is Incredible

Reunions are always sweet, whether it's between people, dogs and soldiers, or animals that have been apart for a very long time. The moment they see each other is just magical, and it only gets better if it takes them a moment to remember each other.

On September 2nd, a couple of horse brothers finally had the chance to see each other again after years apart, and their reactions proved that they really loved and missed each other:

Though we haven't been given the exact backstory of why these brothers had to part ways, they did. They spent years away from each other, and they were fine on their own, just like we are when we have to spend time away from our friends.

That does not mean we forget them, though, and from what we see in this video, these brothers didn't forget each other, either. Immediately upon seeing each other, they run for each other and press their heads together. In a follow-up video, the human reuniting them addresses a comment calling that stand-off behavior. In that video, they're grooming each other to high heavens, rubbing their heads on each other, and losing their minds!

Horses Have Excellent Memories

If ever you feel like you want to be freaked out by horses, you just have to think about them for a little too long. Horses are huge, they have excellent eyesight, they're the inspiration behind cars, and they have incredible memories. I would not want to take a horse in a fight.

Horses can remember people, animals, and training from years' prior. In their 25ish year life-spans , they can easily remember those from when they were just tiny yearlings. With their almost photographic memories, they can remember places, too, which can both be good and bad. They might remember great places, but they also remember places where bad things have happened to them.

Because of their memories, taking in a horse as a rescue can be hard; they carry trauma with them and they spook easily. Without a friend to keep them calm (or, in this case, a brother), they may have a very hard first few weeks with you. However, horses can also be very trusting, so as long as you really commit, you can improve your relationship over time!
