Black Business Expo is Saturday
The African American Cultural Alliance of Lancaster is presenting its Black Business Expo this weekend. It is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at The Shops at Rockvale, 35 S. Willowdale Drive, in East Lampeter Township. Twenty-five vendors have signed up to participate, alliance President Vincent Smith said.
Fundraiser will benefit animal rescues
Britain Hill Venue & Vineyard, 790 Little Britain Road North, Quarryville, will host its annual Whiskers, Wags and Wine event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. The fundraising event will include various vendors, food trucks, prize drawings and live entertainment, and it will be attended by multiple nonprofit organizations dedicated to animal advocacy.

Reading United Players of the Year Announced
Reading United’s men’s and women’s teams both featured seasons that saw the teams’ return to post-season action in the USL2 and WPSL. The Reading United women made their second straight playoff appearance and bested their 2023 inaugural season with a trip to the East Region Championship, where they fell to Clarkstown, SC. The men returned to the post season and travelled to Vermont to face off against Vermont Green FC but lost a heartbreaker on a last second Vermont winner in stoppage time.
