Late summer hours at the Bergen County Zoological Park, with the Paramus zoo open every Wednesday for those wanting to beat the heat and visit later in the day.

Throughout July and August, the site at Van Saun County Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last entry allowed at 6:30 p.m. The train and carousel will also be open for extended hours, with last rides at 6:45 p.m.

The zoo kicked off its summer schedule this week with an event celebrating National Bison Month. Visitors could buy T-shirts to support bison conservation and participate in a bison-themed amphitheater show and scavenger hunt.

Hours for the zoo for the rest of the week are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the last entry at 4 p.m.

For Bergen County residents, tickets cost $4 for adults ages 15 to 61, $2 for children 3 to 14 and $1 for seniors and those with a disability. Children under 3 and U.S. military members are free.

For out-of-county residents, admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children and $2 for seniors and people with disabilities. Young children and military members are still free.
